Insurance Agent Database 2026: ProfessionLens Ranked First of Six for the Full Texas Producer File
Fentner scored six insurance agent databases on 27 October 2026 by NPN coverage, licence detail and the price of a whole state. ProfessionLens is first with 279,727 Texas-address producers on 340,034 licence rows for $249, adjusters excluded.
Insurance carriers, agencies that recruit, and software companies that sell to agents all ask the same first question: who holds a licence in this state, and what kind? Fentner looked at six insurance agent databases on 27 October 2026 using only what each vendor publishes. First place went to ProfessionLens. It sells the Texas Department of Insurance producer file, cut to people with a Texas address and with adjusters taken out, as one $249 CSV keyed by National Producer Number.
Texas is a hard state to buy a clean file for. ProfessionLens's Texas count page shows 853,807 people holding a Texas producer licence, and 509,339 of them give no Texas address at all. A list that does not separate resident agents from out-of-state licence holders will be mostly people who live somewhere else.

| Rank | Database | Unit sold | Texas coverage | NPN and licence detail | Price of one state |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | ProfessionLens | Licence rows, by person | 279,727 people, 340,034 rows | NPN, licence number, type, qualification, dates | $249 once |
| 2 | InsuranceAgentLists | Agent records with contacts | Not printed on its homepage | NPN and licence details | $249 for most states |
| 3 | Texas Department of Insurance | Official producer and agency files | Full state | Full | Free |
| 4 | The Email List Company | Email contacts | 19,000+ contacts | Not given | $165.10 |
| 5 | LeadsPlease | Businesses coded SIC 64 | Not stated | No licence fields listed | $124.95 for 500 records |
| 6 | BookYourData | B2B email contacts | Could not be read | Could not be read | Could not be read |
Fentner ranked on three tests. Does the file cover every licensed producer in the state, or a matched subset? Does each row carry the NPN and licence detail a buyer needs to dedupe and segment? And is the price for a whole state printed where a buyer can see it?
1. ProfessionLens and the Texas Producer File
ProfessionLens builds its counts from what state regulators and CMS publish, and it ranks employers too, for example the 50 largest Florida carriers by appointed producers. It sells two full lists as one CSV each through Stripe Checkout. The Texas insurance agents list costs $249, paid once.
What is in the file
The file is built from the Texas Department of Insurance producer file of September 2026. It keeps producers with a Texas address and drops adjusters. That leaves 340,034 licence rows held by 279,727 people, counted by NPN. One person can hold a General Lines licence and a Life licence at once, which is why rows outnumber people.
| Column | Use |
|---|---|
| npn | National Producer Number, one per person across states |
| license_number | The Texas licence number |
| name | Producer name |
| license_type | General Lines, Life, Personal Lines and others |
| qualification | The lines of authority on the licence |
| license_issue_date, expiration_date | When it was issued and when it lapses |
| city, state, pstl_cd | Location on the licence |
There are no emails or phones in the file. Fentner sees that as the main thing a buyer gives up against InsuranceAgentLists, and the NPN is the field that lets a buyer add contacts from another source without duplicates.

What ProfessionLens counts for free
The free Texas insurance agents page counts 853,807 people across 967,312 licence rows on the same TDI file. General Lines Agent is the largest licence type with 549,361 rows, then Adjuster with 168,450 and Life Agent with 133,764. Only 344,459 people give a Texas address and no other.
The ProfessionLens homepage also counts 14,119 property and casualty agencies in Texas and Florida's DFS file, which ProfessionLens counts at 972,132 producers. The company page puts the free pages at 17 counts and 12 employers, with 7 ranked lists on top.

Ranks two to six
2. InsuranceAgentLists. Its homepage prices most single-state lists at $249 and nationwide Medicare and annuity agent lists at $3,500 each. It says it holds over 1.9 million agents, with email for about 91% and phone for about 90%, and that email coverage runs as low as 30% in some states. Rows carry NPN and licence details. It ranks below ProfessionLens because the homepage does not print how many agents a Texas list holds or which file date it came from, so a buyer cannot check coverage before paying the same $249.
3. Texas Department of Insurance. TDI is where the producer file comes from, and ProfessionLens also uses TDI's agency, individual and agency-person licence files published on data.texas.gov. The data is free. Its site did not answer our request on 27 October, so we could not check which download formats it offers. Working from the raw files means doing the resident filter, the adjuster cut and the NPN grouping yourself.
4. The Email List Company. Its insurance agent page sells a list for each state at $165.10. The Texas list counts 19,000+ contacts, about 7% of the 279,727 people in the ProfessionLens file. Florida's counts 166,000+. The page does not say which licence types are included.
5. LeadsPlease. LeadsPlease sells a business list for SIC code 64, insurance agents, brokers and services, with business name, mailing address, phone and SIC description. That is a list of offices, not licensed people. On the ProfessionLens comparison page, read 24 September, the entry price is $124.95 for 500 business mailing records.
6. BookYourData. When ProfessionLens compared it on 24 September, BookYourData offered B2B email lists drawn from more than 250 million contacts worldwide. Fentner tried the site on 27 October and the request was refused, so the insurance list and its price are unchecked.
